How To Travel With Jewelry
Summer is in full swing and if you know me you know I LOVE to travel. Summer is a great time to explore new places abroad or even undiscovered places closer to your home. I don't know about you but when I travel bringing a few pieces of jewelry is a definite must! While it takes up very little space in your suitcase it can be an absolute nightmare to unpack. How to pack your precious jewels is probably the last thing you worry about when traveling but it can save you a ton of time which equates to doing more of what you want to do, adventure!

My first rule is to leave anything irreplaceable at home, this may be your engagement ring, a precious family heirloom necklace or anything of that sort. Nothing ruins a vacation quicker than losing something you hold close to your heart.
Necklaces:
The easiest way to pack necklaces is individually in little ziplock baggies, you can get these at any craft store such as Michaels, they typically carry them in the bead section and they are essential to avoiding a tangled mess. My top tip is to let a small part of the chain hang outside the bag. This is a tip I use everyday in the studio to avoid tangling.

Earrings:
Earrings are a vacation essential as they are the easiest way to dress up an outfit for a night out! When I travel I like to take a small piece of fabric or cardboard and poke two holes. I attach the earrings to my makeshift holder and place them in a small ziplock bag (like the one I mentioned above) and viola! No more lost backs or missing earrings!
-
Rings:
I always store my rings separately when I travel so that that my precious gemstones do not scratch up against each other. Pearls and opals are especially susceptible to this. Keeping your rings in separate ziplock bags is the best way to keep your jewels in sparkling condition.
-
Bracelets:
I always bring along at least one bracelet when I travel, I love the bit of sparkle on my wrist. Bangles I treat just like rings and chained bracelets I treat like necklaces, just a bit of chain hanging out the top of the ziplock bag, both styles always stored separately.

Top tips for packing your jewelry:
- If you’re packing a few pieces for your adventure, a small jewelry box will keep your beautiful treasures together and nicely organized. A small box is perfect because it will make sure you don't bring your entire collection, trust me it's easy to do!
- If you only have a couple of pieces to pack, small ziplock bags are perfect. I always keep a couple of extra ziplock plastic bags in my bag, they always come in handy for things other than jewelry too! Storing your jewelry in airtight bags will also minimise any tarnishing that can happen on our gold vermeil pieces.
- If you’re flying to your destination, always pack your jewels in a carry-on bag such as a purse. Checked bags have a much greater chance of getting lost and you definitely don't want to lose any of your jewels!
I hope these tips will be useful the next time you adventure!
